...we've taken more baths than normal (as the boys have diligently improved upon their mess-making effiency), Rowie has developed a habit of climbing into Belly's bed in the middle of the night for cuddles, the babies took me for a joyride on Lola's new scooter, I was called as the Nursery Leader at church so I've been getting to wear the Belly out at church (and therefore get naps when we get home!), and my Rogue stripe has continued to come in. Oh, and my hair has continued to fall out, haha. C'est la vie!
This month so far...

A Parcel!
My UPS friend brought me a present on Monday! Y'all know how I love sample sale websites and all that good stuff. Well, this particular present was courtesy of HauteLook.com. I've been on a lipstick kick of late, so I was pretty stoked when I saw that they had LORAC products for like 80% off! Each of these items was originally priced at $18-$20, and I paid $24 for the lot!
Good night, I love sales.

Your loaf is my drug.
Loaf of bread, that is. :) It's been a while since I've given you guys an update on my weight loss adventures in PCOS, and that's because I haven't lost anymore weight, haha. In fact, I've gained 5 lbs--but that's actually pretty awesome considering how completely I fell off the low-carb wagon!
It's been difficult and frustrating trying to figure out how to combine all of the information I got from those three diet programs into something that will really work for me long term both physically and financially. My issue has been that, if I allow myself to eat any bread at all, I end up binging (looked that up in the dictionary, apparently it's spelled right). We're talking half a donut leads to the whole dozen, one cookie turns into the entire package, one slice of pizza.....etc. It's embarrassing and I always feel a little self-loathing afterward.
I think what a lot of people don't understand about food addiction is that it really can be just that. An addiction. As with any addiction, there's a degree of will power that you are expected to have, but that will power can often take a back seat to the chemicals in your body that are telling you you NEED whatever it is you're craving. I have a better understanding of this now that I've been diagnosed with PCOS because of the role that insulin spikes play in creating those intense cravings for bread and sweets.
It really clicked for me (the fact that I've been subconsciously craving bread in a bad way) when our friends were over helping us move the other night (more on that to come!). After all of the heavy lifting was done, we ordered pizza to celebrate. I told myself I'd have one piece and eat some other stuff if I was still hungry. After that piece, I went to choose my second (because who eats one piece of pizza, right?) and my heart literally started beating faster and I got so excited when I saw a really thick piece with giant bread bubbles on it. It had practically no cheese or sauce on it, just bread. I was like....check out all that bready goodness! That's going in my belly!
It wasn't a big deal, just kind of an "a-ha!" moment.
Anyway, we simply can't afford for me to follow a no-carb diet because of the amount of fresh produce involved. I need to get my cravings under control so that I can supplement my meals with cheap stuff like grains, but I don't know how I'll go about it.
I've started taking Chromium Polynicotinate supplements. Apparently, they're supposed to help with suppression of cravings. I guess we'll see!
Semi-related side-note: My hair started falling out, so I have to go on birth control to hopefully regulate my hormones. Maybe that'll help with cravings, too!
Luckily, I can still stuff my muffin top into my jeggings!

A Day in the Life
I really love watching the boys hang out. They're total BFFs! You know, the kind where you fight about everything and get upset with each other, but you'd rather be upset together than doing anything else apart? They're that kind. That's the real deal :)
Also, I got a package from OpenSky today! They credited my account in celebration of the new year so I got them practically for free! I think I spent $3 and they're really nice cutting boards! Have I mentioned how much I love good deals?

It Was a Very Good Night
Moms and I painted the town red last night! She got us tickets to Simply Sinatra at the Utah Symphony and it. was. BOMB. We're both huge Sinatra fans and that era of music is hands down my favorite. I will take The Rat Pack over The Backstreet Boys and Ella Fitzgerald over Lady Gaga any day of the week, my friends. The performers were classy and had actual pipes, the lyrics were poetic and evocative, the arrangements were so creative, and the orchestra and the band!! You guys, the band. Big band music is so fun! It took all of my self control not to get up and dance and not to belt out the songs--and that is not a thing that I would ever do in public.
I started happy crying like 45 seconds into it, no joke. I had a nerdy grin on my face the whole time. It was awesome! Music affects me on a really personal level for some reason. I left feeling uplifted and energized and I'm still riding that high.
Prior to the show, we grabbed dinner at Blue Lemon. The food was reasonably priced and super yummy, but my favorite part was the bathroom. The mirrors and lights in there made me feel like a movie star! B-Money always makes fun of me because I get really excited about restaurant bathrooms. Don't ask me why.
There was a giant sea anemone in the lobby, so we made sure to snap some pictures with it while we were there.
One of my favorite performances of the evening was "It Was a Very Good Year." The Utah Symphony OWNED it!! Oh my gosh, just try to imagine how this song would sound live, with a full orchestra. My head was spinning. I was so disappointed to find that they don't sell recordings of the performances for purchase. Get on that, symphony guys!

Want $10?
Hi. My name is Lizard, and I'm a discount junkie. Sales are like mother's milk to me. That came out creepier than I expected. Anyway, I subscribe to a few different deal websites and Fab.com is one of them. Right now, they're offering a $10 credit to anyone who registers with them! There's no obligation to buy and no monthly fee or anything! I'm not sure if you have to be referred by me in order to get it, or if you can just sign up on your own. (I just got an email saying that my friends will get it if they sign up.) The link there is my personal invite link.
That's ten free dollars, folks. Here are some things I wouldn't mind getting for free (or almost free):
Mozzarella Cheese Making Kit
Travel Chopsticks
Three Boats in a Box
A B Seas Stamp Set
Tambourine Jingle Stick
Aqueduck
Ginger Spiced Beets
Coconut-Citrus & Poppyseed Vinaigrette
Drunken Monkey Jame
Tagine (SERIOUSLY!)
The offer only lasts for the next 24 hours, so if you can't find anything you want to have and not pay for--feel free to get any of the things on that list and have them sent my way, because I don't actually get to partake in this deal, haha.
Go forth, and know me better man!
