Penny Pinching

Buck and I have been trying extra hard to save money recently. We've been spending way less on groceries, trying not to use the air conditioning, not going out on dates, not using the electricity during the day, etc.

Today I remembered that my friend, Jen, sent me some cloth diapers after she tried using them for her daughter last year. So I decided to try them out on the boys! They don't seem to notice any difference, which is nice. They're bulkier than disposables, but that's actually a good thing in Rowan's case because they help to hold up his pants :)

I really hope that I can get the hang of cloth diapering quickly so it ends up working out because it could save us a TON of money. The worst part about cloth diapering is the initial investment, and I got to bypass that because Jen's so awesome! Some of the diaper covers are super girly, but I told Jen that shouldn't be a problem since Rowan's such a little fairy anyway :)

  1. Those diapers are so huge! It's funny. Now Rowbot will have the butt he always wanted. Remind me to give you a recipe for making your own wipes. You get sick of making them, but it's definately cheaper.

  4. HEHEHEH I'm glad you're getting use out of them :) You'll probably want to pick up a few more if you decide that you like them and all the work that comes with them, but I know you can get them discounted or secondhand at certain places. I decided against cloth diapering not because I minded the laundry and all of that work...no, I'm just vain enough that I wanted Lorelai to be able to wear pants and none of her pants fit with the diapers on :)

Man am I lame :) Good luck tho! I hope it works for you!!

    love u!,
    Jen

  6. I'm totally doing this with this baby! I found a website that has cute cloth diapers, sure it's expensive to start, but it's SOO worth it in the end!! I'm on the same boat of being tired of spending a ton of money and want to save!
This is the website I found (they have boy colors) http://katydidcloth.com/diapers.html

  8. I use cloth diapers alot and love them. We're part timers, well addie can take hers off and is also potty training, and since out in public it can be a hassle sometimes like when you're gone for a long time. Short trips don't bother me at all. But if you stay on top of it it works pretty smoothly. And have them wear a size up in pants and it works well, thats what we did with addie. Good luck!
